To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose... " Eva P. Garrett, 89 of Harrisburg passed peacefully on Tuesday January 4, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Camp Hill. She was born September 27, 1921 in Covington, VA to the late Melvin Fisher and Maude Pondexter Fisher, Later raised by the late Bishop Wyoming and Mary Watts. She graduated from Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC and attended North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro, NC. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and was also an LP. Eva was a member of Shiloh COGIC and often known as Mother Garrett. She enjoyed baking and cooking and loved her church family. She was preceded in death by two children, David L. Garrett and Elvira E. Swanson, 3 siblings; John Fisher, Melvin Fisher and Mary Pendleton. She leaves to celebrate her life and memory her devoted husband Julius Garrett, Sr., 2 children; Patricia Thomas of Hummelstown, PA and Julius (Beatrice) Garrett, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, siblings; Doris Strothers of SC, Claudia Hamilton of Michigan, Lucien Wells of North Carolina, O.T. Wells of New York and Deola Wells-Johnson of Tennessee, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday January 13, 2011 at her church, 5950 Derry Street, Harrisburg at 6 p.m., viewing at 4 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be Friday January 14, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
