Eugene "Gene" Sneed, 59, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Harrisburg Hospital.
A 1966 graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, Gene served in the U.S. Army, receiving the National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals and the Vietnam Campaign and Good Conduct Medals. He was a Structural Ironworker and member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local 404 of Harrisburg, where he helped to build the George N. Wade Bridge. In addition, Gene was the co-founder of Sneed's Studio and a member of Kingdom Life Ministries.
Gene's life will be celebrated by his parents, Charlie and Mary Sneed of Harrisburg, two brothers, Bob Sneed and Terry Sneed, Sr. husband of Connie of Harrisburg; six sisters, Flo Joppy and husband Alphonso, Shelley Kaloko and husband Ahmed, Ann Sneed, Lois Sneed-Jackson and husband Brian, and Tracey Sneed all of Harrisburg, Vera Grimes and husband Asa of Philadelphia, one godson, Tavon Thompson of Harrisburg and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
The viewing and reflections service will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The celebration of his life will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at First Spirit Filled Missionary Baptist Church, 2605 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
