Emily Jane Hawkins

Emily Hawkins, 65 of Harrisburg passed peacefully on March 7, 2012.

She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth Baylor. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Director in the Department of Health and Welfare. Emily was a graduate of John Harris High, HACC and Penn State University. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Village, American Legion Auxiliary Post 733 and Top Class Social Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Mario Baylor. Emily leaves to celebrate her life her devoted husband James Hawkins Jr.; son, Kevin Sloan, as well as Tracel (Trevor) Wilt of Denver, NC, James (Darby) Hawkins III of Steelton; brothers, Richard (Meacie) Fairfax, Ernie (Joyce) Baylor of Harrisburg; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and host of relatives and friends. Service will be held at her church 1721 N. 5th Street, Tuesday March 13, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 9:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Hospice of Central Pennsylvania in her name. Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. is handling arrangements.
