Ellen C. Kirby

Ellen C. Kirby, 83, widow of the late James Kirby and mother of the late Thomas Kirby, formerly of Harrisburg passed peacefully June 14th in Williamsport, PA. Ms Kirby was retired from the Commonwealth of PA and devoted member of the Wesley Union A.M.E.Zion Church. She was also a member of the Unity Temple #61 of the Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World and was a Charter Member of the Blue Mountain Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. The Honorable Mayor Stephen R. Reed proclaimed March 17th, 1991 as Ellen Kirby Day in the City of Harrisburg. Services for her, guided by the Hooper Memorial Home Inc. will be in her Church Tuesday, June 21st at 10:30AM with viewing at 9:30. Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery. The remaining members of her family, sisters Esther Gibson of Williamsport and Willie Mae Caffie of Jersey City, god children Howard Smith, Peggy Pierce and Juanita Mickens and a host of others.
