Edith Dade

Edith J. Dade passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the
Waugh Chapel Center in Gambrills, MD. She was born on September
30, 1927 in Mechanicsburg, PA to the late Hardy Davis and Marion
Clark Davis.
She was a proud graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and a
member of St. Paul Baptist Church Harrisburg, PA. She started her
professional career working for the Federal Government at the U.S.
Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg for 19 years. She then went to
work for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as a secretary for
over 23 years after which she entered into retirement.
After several years she relocated to Bowie, MD to live near her
daughter and son-in-law, she also visited and stayed with her sons in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
Edith enjoyed painting, cooking, where she was known for her pies,
baked shad and capon. One of her favorite activities was selling
Avon products, especially jewelry, which she did as a representative
in both Harrisburg, PA and Bowie, MD. She enjoyed making floral
arrangements and decorating her home for the holidays, singing and
the arts. While living in Harrisburg, PA she was active in the Girls
Club and Cub Scouts. Most important was being able to spend time
with her loving family.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her son James Dade,
brothers; Hardy “Sonny” Davis III, Clarkson “Buddy” Davis, sisters;
Doris Ann Knight, Florence “Elaine” Davis Spencer, Elizabeth “Libby”
Davis Green. She leaves to celebrate her life children; Susan Darlene
Jones and husband William P. Jones Jr., William H. Dade and wife
Leola Dade, Robert Dade and wife Darlene Dade, sister Marion
“Cissy” Sellers, several grand, great-grand children, nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends.
