Eddie Moses Davis, Jr., affectionately known as "E.D." 73, fell asleep in The Lord Friday, June 11, 2010. Born September 8, 1936, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Eddie Davis, Sr. and Ophelia (Epps) Davis. He received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System, graduating from the former William Penn Senior High School. He received a Master Compliance Certificate from the American Contract Compliance Association and a certificate from Cleveland State University of Ohio for completion of a compliance program. He was employed with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 40 years where he served 27 of those 40 years with the Bureau of Equal Opportunity, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as an Equal Opportunity Specialist, administering the Department's external EEO Programs; he also served as Chief of the Contract Compliance Division where he conducted EEO/AA workshops, compliance reviews/audits, and supervising PennDOT's statewide external programs; in addition he served temporarily as Director of the Bureau of Equal Opportunity during its transitional period. He was a recipient of the Department's Secretary Award of Excellence in 1987 and 1997; in 1994 he received an award for Outstanding Contract Compliance Specialist in Pennsylvania from the Bureau of Affirmative Action and Contract Compliance. After retirement he was employed for 2 years by M.T. Johnson Group, LLC as an EEO/DBE Compliance Officer, assisting in the construction and renovation project of the Harrisburg International Airport. On June 20, 1959 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Eddie was united in holy matrimony to Charlotte Arlene Goins. There union was blessed with a son, Kenneth Edward and a daughter, Nadine Marie. He was a faithful member of Camp Curtin Memorial Mitchell United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee, Board of Trustees, Gospel Choir and Male Chorus, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Representative for the Annual Conference; he was also a member of the Neighborhood Center of the United Methodist Church, Camp Curtin Historical Society and Civil War Round Table and the Harrisburg Uptown United Methodist Ministries. His community service includes a certificate from the City of Harrisburg Bureau of Police for the completion of instruction, study and training at the Citizens Police Academy; he received the Mayor's Award for Distinguished Public Service for the Holly Street Association Neighborhood Crime Watch where he served as president; he was also a member of the Fair Housing Council of Capital Region, Inc. Preceded in death by his father Eddie M. Davis, Sr., his mother Ophelia Davis, his son Kenneth E. Davis, and his sister Deborah Bruton, he leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories his beloved wife Charlotte A. Davis, his daughter Nadine M. Davis, his sister Alberta Toles of Chicago, IL, his nephews Gary Bruton of Houston, TX, and John Bruton of Harrisburg, his adopted son and daughter Dilworth and Dotlynn Tulloch, and grandchildren Angel, Gabrielle, Breanna, Teanna, and Taylor Tulloch, Sasha and Teresa Simpson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many friends. Services will be held in his Church Friday June 18th at 11AM with viewing at 10. His final resting place will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens
