Dolores Thompson peacefully entered into her rest, August 9, 2009. She was born to Parker and Anna Mae Thompson on June 28, 1929. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Raquel, Vannie, Juanita, Sylvia and Helena and her three brothers, John , Walter, and Doc. She was the proud mother of her now deceased son, Andre Thompson.
Dolores was born and raised in Lansdowne Pa. She relocated from
Philadelphia to Harrisburg Pa in 2002 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She was cared for by her nephew John Thompson his wife Ramona, and in the last months before her passing, her niece Linda Thompson.
Dolores, or "Dee," as she was called by family and friends, was an outgoing person who could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything at anytime. She also could give you a pretty good argument and was a formidable opponent when her mind was made up, which was all of the time. She worked as an electronics assembler, wiring and soldering printed circuit boards for various companies including Honeywell, Mars Electronics, and AMP. Dolores worked in the field for thirty two years until her cancer diagnosis. Her true love, though, was art. Dee loved drawing Native American figures as a tribute to her Nanticoke heritage of which she was so proud.
Dee was probably known the most for her compassionate nature. Dee would never see any family member in need and not find a way to help. Many of us have lived with her, been fed by her, got loans from her and in general, been blessed by her. She would say, "I can't see anyone in the street or hungry. This was her legacy and she was consistent till her dying day. Dolores will be greatly missed, but professed to believe that Jesus had died for her sins and that she was not afraid to die. We trust her to His care until we meet again.
Dolores is survived by two grandchildren, Johnean Thompson-Brantley and Andrea Thompson-Squires, seven great grandchildren: Justin Thompson, Julissa Nobles, Temeshia Nobles, Khiry Thompson, Tra Shaun Nobles, Kayla Squires, and Kentrell Keys, and two Great grandchildren: Demari Knox, and Mehki Knox and a host of nieces, nephews and friends
