Delphine Mae Parker, 79, of Harrisburg and formerly of Philadelphia, passed peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2010 in Spring Creek Rehabilitation Center. Delphine was the 1st born to the late Rebecca and Horace Parker and predeceased by a sister; Alice G. Parker. She graduated from Germantown High School and retired from Sears & Roebucks on Roosevelt Blvd. She opened and operated a corner grocery store in North Philadelphia and worked part-time at Temple University, in the Community Relations Office until she was no longer able. Delphine was a life member of Miller Memorial Baptist Church, upon moving to Harrisburg, she joined St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed sports, especially football and was an avid Eagles fan. She also loved music and enjoyed dancing to the tunes of Frank Sinatra. Delphine leaves to celebrate her life and memory her brother, James H. Parker, and wife, Alice of Harrisburg, nephew, Michael Parker and wife Patricia, niece, Michele and husband Christopher Howard, nephew Jigger Mercado and wife Mireya and niece Christine Mercado, cousins, Edith Allen, Norman and Anne Cottman, Mozelle Bland, Diane Freeman, Floyd and Marilyn Alston, J.C. Parker, John Hamilton, Clarine Brown and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 N. 17th Street, Harrisburg at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial in Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester Pike, Downingtown, PA. The Parker family appreciates the love and support shown to them during their time of bereavement.
