David Carlos Myers was born on February 12, 1960 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late William R. & Constance R. Myers. He was the youngest of seven children. David was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and raised in Somerville the Germantown area of Philadelphia. David was affectionally known as “BLOCK”.
On October 16, 1982 David wed to Ruth Bethea and during this union they had three beautiful children Erica, the late David Jr., and Felicia.
In 1989 David relocated to Harrisburg, Pa to start a new chapter of his life. During the start of his new journey he worked at the Common Wealth of Pennsylvania House of representatives as a Penn Dot specialist. In 1992 and continuing with the Common Wealth of Pennsylvania David advanced his career endeavors by becoming a correctional monitor. David was a dedicated employee with The Department of Corrections for 25 years of service and retired in 2017.
David Myers was a member of Chosen Friends Lodge # 43 F&AM, Associate Patron, Esther Chapter 1, OES PHA, Harris Chapter # 26 Royal Arch Masons, Himyar No. 17 Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Noble Mystic Shrine.
He had a passion for cooking on the grill and enjoyed traveling abroad. He was also an avid jazz music lover and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
David departed this life on September 26, 2020 at home with his love ones peacefully and serene. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
David is preceded in death by his father William and his mother, Constance Myers. His only begotten son, David C. Myers Jr. He leaves behind to celebrate his life children: Erica and Felicia Myers. Siblings William R. Myers Jr., Gwendolyn Ewell, Mary Ann (Ervin)Perry, and Eric (Patricia) Myers. His grandchildren, Amaya, Elias, Isa and Evieyana. Special companion and friend – Priscilla Dickey. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions a Masonic Resolution Service will be held for his immediate family on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. On Friday, October 2, 2020 a viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. until 11 a.m. also at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc with a Celebration of Life Service for his family at 11 a.m. to follow.
All COVID 19 restrictions will be in place, his funeral service of 25 people invited by his family, the use of face mask and social distancing will be required.
