Daniel William Payton, 62, affectionately known to most as P.I. transitioned into eternal life on Sept. 19 at the Osteopathic Hospital surrounded by his loving family. P.I. was born on July 30, 1951 to the late Hubert Payton and Shirley (Payton) Wilkerson. He spent most of his working career in the food industry. He graduated from the former William Penn High School and also attended Franklin & Marshall College. He loved Marvin Gaye songs, playing pinochle with family and enjoyed traveling. He was famous for laughs and fun with everyone he met. He had a personal connection with his entire family and the community. P.I. could always be seen around town wearing his signature red hat and matching ensemble. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Payton and sister Sharon Neely. P.I. leaves to celebrate his life, his long-time companion, Sue Mundie; his sons, Andre Carter of Pensacola, FL, Derrick Myers, Amos Bradley and Terry Brown all of Harrisburg; his daughters, Lilia Kinhoun (Adam), Lorre Wilkerson and Danielle Payton; his mother and step-father, Shirley & Robert Wilkerson; his brothers, Raymond and Richard Payton, Michael Neely, Robert (LaâShawn), Todd, William (Barb) and Charles Wilkerson; his sisters, Sandra Payton-McCleave, Lil Jackson (Steve), Vickie Jackson and Monica Wilkerson all of Harrisburg. He also leaves to cherish his memory 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
