Daniel T. Howard Sr

Remembering the Life Daniel T. Howard Sr. Daniel T. Howard Sr. was born November 18, 1930 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Nathan A. and Flora Belle Howard. He was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Louise Johnson. He died on Monday, June 29th in Harrisburg Hospital. He received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System. He served in the United States Air Force (USAF) and honorably retired in 1966. After his military career, he continued working for the United States Government until retiring in 1986. He continued providing special consulting services, in his community through various volunteer endeavors. He loved retirement! "Dan", as he was affectionately called by family and friends, loved "Jazz", traveling (domestically and internationally) and he spent years studying the genealogy of his own family. He was also a man who loved sharing his opinions on myriad topics. He was on the "Air" as both a radio and television host between the 1960's and 1980's. During that time you could hear him on the radio hosting "Dan's Thing" and on television hosting "Black Perspective." He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Carol Corlett Howard, his daughter, Rosann Hicks, three sons, Daniel (Jr.), David, and Christien (Chris) one daughter-in-law, Marsha, all of Harrisburg, PA, one brother-in-law, Harold Johnson of Washington, DC, 4 grandchildren, William Hicks, Syreeta, Aigne, and Dashantee Howard, 2 step-grandchildren Yu'Vonne James, and Jennette Hutchinson and 2 step-great grandchildren, a nephew, other special relatives, and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor Wednesday July 8th, 2009 in the Hooper Memorial Home Inc., 3532 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109 from 6PM to 8PM.
