Charles G. Gilmer "Salty" 63 of Dauphin passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Salty was a Mechanic and Owner of Gilmer's Service Center on Division Street in Harrisburg. He was an Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #1001, the National Rifle Association, Rescue Fire Company (Susquehanna Twp.) and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves behind his wife, Kathleen Gilmer of Dauphin, his mother Barbara C. Maljan of Harrisburg, 4 children: Charles G. Kieffer of Mechanicsburg, Jan Marie, Joseph E. and Charles D. Gilmer all of Dauphin, a sister Barbara A. Gales of Summerdale and a brother Ronald C. Gilmer of Dauphin, 3 grandchildren; Victoria M. Oczarek, Brook A. Gilmer and Allisa J. Beatty also of Dauphin. Services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Rockville United Methodist Church, 6th Street and Linglestown Road, Harrisburg at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to PAWS (No Kill Rescue), P.O. Box 855, Camp Hill, PA 17001 or any other charity of your choice. Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. is caring for and handling Mr. Gilmer's arrangements.
