Charles Fleming
Charles Fleming, 76, of Lower Paxton Township, transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday, February 15, 2010 at Pinnacle-Community General Hospital. He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late James and Beulah (Gibbs) Fleming. After graduating from William Penn Senior High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force (Korean War Veteran) and was later employed as an Aircraft Inspector retiring from the New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg.
As a senior athlete, he enjoyed exercising at Central Penn Fitness and watching sporting events. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife Mary (RenAC.) and siblings Walter Fleming and Laura Mae Smith. He leaves to celebrate his life, four sons, Charles, Jr., Michael, Sr., Victor (Yvette) and Wayne (Joy), eight grandchildren, Michael, Jr., (Nichole), Sharee, Brandon, Shane, Frank, Aidan, Grant, Addison as well as daughters-in-law Joyce and Kim Fleming.
Charles was a devoted and loving brother and will be deeply missed by sisters, Thelma Haigood, Ruth Ferguson, Dorothy Bond (James) as well as his brother Jerry Fleming (Sonia) all of Harrisburg. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
His life will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2010 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2848 Herr Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103. Viewing from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m., and services from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. followed by burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Hooper Memorial Home, Inc., Harrisburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heinz-Menaker Senior Center, 1824 N. 4th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102.
