Catherine L. ‘Cat’ Carson was born December 29, 1933 in Washington DC to the late Otis Mills and Louise Brown; she was one of eight children. Catherine at an early age along with her family moved to Virginia, were she was educated in the public school system.
Catherine met the late James ‘Shorty’ Carson, they were married in 1950. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and three children were born to this union. Catherine had worked at Harrisburg Hospital as a nurse’s aid. She also worked in housekeeping for both Harrisburg Hospital and Holiday Inn.
Catherine made her dedication to Jehovah and was baptized in the mid 70’s. She proved her faith and loyalty to Jehovah by serving him with zeal. She had a passion for cooking, baking, canning and gardening. Whenever company came over, Catherine would serve them a hot meal and dessert.
Due to Catherine’s illness, she relocated to Buffalo, New York in 2014 to be cared for by her daughter and son-in-law.
Catherine entered into rest on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, New York. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Maherley (George) Brown of Buffalo, NY, a son, Lynn “Tony” Carson of Harrisburg, PA, brothers; Raymond and Eddie Mills of Washington DC, Michael Watson of FL, and James ‘Jimmy’ Mills of PA; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, Charlotte Mitchell and Valora Jones, extended family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by a son Gary Carson; a sister Marian Mills, two brothers, Otis Mills Jr. and George "Sunny" Payne; and a grandson, Anthony "Little Tony" Carson.
