Carol Gamble

Carol Ann Davis Gamble, affectionately known as "Nanny" to family and friends, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Harrisburg, PA, on January 11, 2025. Carol was the daughter of the late Charles L. Davis and Florence E. (Arter) Davis. She was born a twin in Lewisburg, PA. She received her formal education in the Harrisburg School District and was a graduate of the former John Harris Senior High School.

During her working career, she was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where she was a grant writer with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. Carol retired after 35 faithful years.

During her leisure time, Carol thoroughly enjoyed watching old westerns and Bruce Lee karate movies, along with her favorite meal of spaghetti or homemade chicken noodle soup. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Phyllis M. Davis Martinez Green; her brothers, Charles Jr. (Chucky) and Richard A.; her husband, Howard Gamble; and her nephew, Lawrence R. Martinez.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Michael Davis (Daneen), Phyllis Corbitt (Nathaniel), Kevin Gamble, and Kymmberlii Gamble (Michael McKee); her daughters-in-love, Bobbie Myers Gamble and Heather Gamble Johnson.

Nanny was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends to cherish her memory.

Nanny’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc., 3532 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Family and friends are invited to the viewing at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
