Carlette Diane Queeley (1960-2024)
Carlette Diane Queeley, 64, passed away in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on May 21st, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
She was born in Bronx, New York on March 6th, 1960 to James W. Queeley and Harriet V. Queeley. Carlette attended Harrisburg Steelton Highspire Vocational School from 1974-1978 where she was a member of the Harrisburg High School Marching and Concert bands, and a Big 33 Football Classic Flash Flag performer. She then moved on to study Business Administration and Education at Central State University, a historically black college/university in Wilberforce, Ohio. Carlette graduated with two Bachelor’s degrees in 1987.
Carlette got her start in the workforce in 1987 as a Typing and Keyboarding teacher for the Harrisburg School District. She was also church secretary at Market Square Presbyterian Church from 1990-1997. From there, she was with the Harrisburg School District for another ten years. After working at the district, Carlette worked for the Pennsylvania State Department of Human Services as an Executive Manager from 2007-2024.
Carlette was a devoted mother to Carryn D. Queeley-Gibson, her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and Carryn felt that in the love and support she provided.
Carlette took special joy in watching the Philadelphia Eagles, and tennis players including the Williams sisters, Coco Gauff, Frances Tiafoe, and Rafael Nadal. She also enjoyed the musical selections of Prince, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and more. Carlette had fond memories of her time at Central State University, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 733, teaching, traveling, and precious time spent with family and friends. Carlette was fondly known by many as “Letty”, “Let”, and or “Car”.
Carlette was preceded in death by father, James W. Queeley, mother, Harriet V. Queeley, and brother, Christopher A. Queeley. Carlette is survived by sisters, Suzette L. Moore, Carla D. Queeley, and Pamela J. Queeley-Fuller, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a continuous list of loved ones who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
