Carl Benito Bryant

Carl was born on December 12, 1944 to the late Joseph Spurgeon and Annie Bess Bryant in Steelton, PA. The Lord blessed his transition into eternal rest on Monday, March 17, 2008. Carl lived in Steelton on Mohn Street with his brothers William, who predeceased him, and Ronald; his sisters, Josephine, Eva, Lillie, all of whom also predeceased him, Marie and Gloria "Dodie". He graduated from Central Dauphin High School, where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. While skipping practice one day, he met the lady in his life, Doris, who he lovingly called "Jo." It was love at first sight. Carl and Doris were married on August 14, 1965 and were blessed with three wonderful children; CarLa, James, and Ila whom he loved with all his heart. He was also blessed with one terrific grand-daughter, Taylor Ashley. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family, music, cooking, and sports. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 37 years of service. Carl gave his life to Christ and he joined Greater Zion Baptist Church under the shepardship of Pastor Charles R. Meile, Jr. Until his illness, he attended worship services faithfully; even then he continued to enjoy his personal relationship with Christ. In addition to his immediate family, Carl will truly be missed by his maternal aunt Agnes Shelley; his sisters-in-law, Betty Bryant, Darcel Lee, La'Tanya George and Kay Colston; his brothers-in-law Edward Arp, Lewis Jones, Ray George, John Lee, Sr. and Charles Colston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
