Calvin Lewis Cobb, lovingly known as Champagne, was born Monday, January 28, 1963 to Charles F. Cobb and Barbara J. (Felton) Cobb. Calvin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Calvin was educated in the Harrisburg School District, a 1982 graduate of Harrisburg High School. A proud Cougar for life. After graduation he attended Bloomsburg University and HACC, where he studied Business Administration. In 1984, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years on the USS Kidd. He traveled the world and received an honorable discharge. He also served one year in the Reserve. His working career included various jobs like being a Bellman at the Hilton Hotel and Towers. He also worked as a Customer Service Representative at EZPass.
Calvin was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan. Especially for his Phillies, Eagles and the Lakers. In the community Calvin volunteered as a youth basketball coach at the YMCA on 6th Street. He also volunteered at the Neighborhood Center’s Food Bank. Calvin was a Christian. He joined Bethel AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence C. Henryhand. He was a member of the Usher Board, Men of Allen and Lay Organization. In fact he was the Harrisburg District Lay Organization Van Driver. He took great pride in making his award-winning peanut butter cookies for the Annual Church School Cake Auction Fundraiser. Calvin’s favorite Scripture was Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Brother Calvin was a warm and caring person. Loved by many, giving love and encouragement and big brother advice to those who knew him. While we miss his physical presence, Calvin lives on in our hearts.
Calvin leaves to celebrate and cherish his memories his eight siblings; including Clarence (Rosie) Padgett, Sharon A. (Reginal) Evans, John G. (Betty) Cobb of Murfreesboro, TN, Carlo Cobb, Anna M. Cobb, Lester C. Bucher Sr, Howard L. (Cheryl) Cobb, Gregory F. Bucher Sr., a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, additional relatives and friends.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
